Leszno 51-39 Bydgoszcz Report

Injury-ravaged Leszno fought their way to an impressive 51-39 victory over Bydgoszcz in the Ekstraliga to move up to 3rd in the table.

The hosts got off to a decent start, after Tobias Musielak took a heat 1 victory, converted into a 4-2 by Piotr Pawlicki in third.

Leszno soon exploded into a lead though, with a devastating three heat spell. Initially, Kamil Adamczewski and Troy Batchlor raced clear for a superb heat 2 maximum over Artem Laguta and Emil Sayfutdinov. Leszno then extended their lead further with Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Damian Balinski, before Piotr Pawlicki and Jurica Pavlic repeated the trick to make it three consecutive 5-1s and open up a 14 point lead.

There were further 4-2s in favour of the home side in heats 7 and 10 after wins for Batchelor and Prz.Pawlicki respectively, although they were nullified by a Bydgoszcz 5-1 courtesy of Tomasz Gapinski and Robert Kosciecha in heat 9.

Wins for Krzysztof Buczkowski and Piotr Pawlicki in heats 11 and 12 preserved the Leszno advantage and duly wrapped up their win with only three heats left, and although a win for Gapinski gave Bydgoszcz a heat advantage, it was too little too late as they were comfortably defeated 51-39.

For Leszno, it was a superb effort in the absence of Jaroslaw Hampel and with Tobias Musielak injured in just his second ride. Jurica Pavlic (12+1) was the really star, but Przemyslaw Pawlicki (10+1) was also excellent. Damian Balinski (9+1) also scored paid double figures in the middle order, whilst Kamil Adamczewski (6+1) also carried out his role well. Although he faded a little late on, returning Tory Batchelor (5) was also a crucial part of the result, as he gave them the unassailable early lead that was so important.

In contrast, Bydgoszcz had Krzysztof Kuczkowski (11), Tomasz Gapinski (12+1) and Robert Kosciecha (7+1) all carrying their roles out well, but there were too many under performing riders on the day. Number one Emil Sayfutdinov (5) was very poor, as was under-fire Artem Laguta (1), whilst both reserves Szymon Wozniak (0) and Mikolaj Curylo (3) made minimal impact.
