Rzeszow 55-35 Bydgoszcz Report
A sterling all around team display from Rzeszow saw them cruise to a superb 55-35 home win over Bydgoszcz.
A win for Wolves man Lukasz Sowka in the opening heat lead to a 4-2 which put Rzeszow in front, and after Rafael Okoniewski and Joonas Kylmakorpi combined for 5-1s in heats 3 and 5, the home side led by by 8.
The two teams traded 4-2s in heats 6 and 7 to keep the gap the same, before Lukasz Sowka took a second superb win next time out, with former World Champion Jason Crump finishing in third to convert the win into a Rzeszow heat advantage which moved them 10 clear.
That was followed by another Rzeszow 5-1 from Grzegorz Walasek and Maciej Kuciapa, before wins for Kylmakorpi and Crump respectively in the next two races resulted in 4-2s to all but wrap the meeting up.
The penultimate race of the meeting did give Bydgoszcz a 4-2 of their own, but that was nullified straight away as Rzeszow ended the meeting in style as Kylmakorpi and Walasek scored another maximum to leave the final score as Rzeszow 55-35 Bydgozszcz.
For Rzeszow, all of the team contributed to a superb victory, with Grzegorz Walasek (12+1), Joonas Kylmakorpi (12) and Jason Crump (10) particularly impressive in making double figures. However, they received excellent support from Rafal Okoniewski (7+2) and Maciej Kuciapa (6+1) in the middle order, whilst at reserve Lukasz Sowka (6) was strong, and Marco Gaschka (2+1) also played his part in moving Rzeszow up to 7th.
On the other hand, Bydgoszcz were carrying too many passengers, with Karol Jozwik (0) and Tomasz Gapinski (1) making no real contributions. Additionally, none of the star Bydgoszcz riders stepped up to put in big scores, with Emil Sayfutdinov (9) failing to do as well as you would expect. Artem Laguta (5) was again quite poor, and although Robert Kosciecha (7+1) and Krzysztof Buczkowski (8+1) did what you would expect of them, Bydgoszcz needed them to do better given the poor performances of those around them.
